In 2000, the Cabral family purchased a property in Franz Valley with an old 4 acre vineyard - here is where our wine story begins. Joe began recovering the steep (45 degrees) vineyard that had originally been planted in Portuguese varietals, joined the home winemakers club and produced his first port.
The Lava Vine brand was born in 2004
when Joe teamed up with a winemaker friend, Nile Zacherle.
They grafted the vineyard to Petite Syrah, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
